Perfect book for a large family -- one of our favorites!

We have a large-ish family (7 kids), so I always appreciate any storybooks that shows a happy large family. We're on our third copy now (we wore out the first two!). It opens like the old woman who lived in a shoe, but with a warm and wonderful twist: There was a mother rabbit who lived in a shoe, she had many children and knew just what to do. And then it goes through the alphabet (each child's name begins with a different letter) and where each child took his or her nap (rhymes with their name). At the end, the mother is ready for her nap, and all the little rabbits jump into bed with her!

Another neat feature are two pictures, the first one and last one, where all the rabbits are present (27 of them!), each one wearing their distinctive outfit or holding their distinctive toy, so my kids have a great time trying to find all the rabbits and remember which is which.

A wonderful book

This is one of my daughter's books that I don't mind reading over and over again. At four, she's memorized the story, and at bedtime I'll read the bunny's names ("1 was named Abel...") and she'll supply where they sleep ("...he slept on the table."). She loves the rhymes, and the rhythm is lovely and even--making it good for bedtime story reading! This has also led to a great game: when we're in the car or I need something to occupy her, I can give her the bunny's names, and she'll tell me where they sleep.
The illustrations are very nice, and I like that all the bunnies appear together with their Mom at the end; we enjoy looking for the various bunnies there.
Highly recommended!

Cynthia Sax is an author who I've long admired and the chance to read her story One Night With My Billionaire Master was irresistible for me. What would you risk for one night of true fulfilment ? I purchased this book after reading the one-star review on another amazon site as it peaked my curiosity to see why the poor rating. I have always felt that books are gifts and they deserve respect as does the author unless they are written to do harm; this book did not do harm. I never read this author before and I am delighted that I purchased this book. I found this story to be a bit of an adult fairytale; with a wicked brother along with two wicked sisters and the out of wedlock daughter being treated like a second class citizen.

WHAT YOU’LL FIND IN THIS SULTRY ROMANCE; a cast of remarkably impressive and engaging characters, intriguing storyline, picturesque and dynamic scene descriptions, witty dialogue, camaraderie, family betrayal and drama, secrets revealed, heart-rending moments, pent-up-rage, skyrocketing jaw-dropping heart-pounding passionate romance, and a melt your heart conclusion leaving you wanting more.

Arianna has been dodging snide remarks about a reputation with men she has never been with for eons, she is also belittled daily by jealous siblings, and does not get the respect she deserves from her father. Even though she feels her father does not love her she is loyal to him and truly loves him. Logan a powerful billionaire has been attracted to Arianna for months and is determined to have her. He is captivated not only by her beauty but her loyalty, intelligence, sassy persona, and also trusts her; trust does not come easily to the dominant billionaire. After months of avoiding time alone with Logan, Arianna follows her heart to be with him in the hopes that he is true to his word in keeping their encounter a secret.

LOVED THIS FABULOUS fast paced well written eye-popping billionaire romance by a truly gifted author. The author does not disappoint by giving readers a romantic read that is mixed with a bit of reality and fantasy. Though the pages are filled with sensual unconventional romance, the story behind the romance is impressive, family drama at its best. Logan is totally trustworthy and is unequivocally devoted to Arianna. Together they blend well, perfectly matched and their romance is filled with fiery passion. I found this to be a most entertaining read and I look forward to reading more by this author. If you treasure fantasy romance this is a terrific book for your library. In the world of fantasy romance, the possibilities are endless and always fascinating. Without reservations. I recommend this book.

More of an encyclopedia than a dictionary

As the name implies, this is a dictionary - but "topical encyclopedia" might be a better description, as the book provides tremendous detail and information on all aspects of Ancient Egypt, from geographic locations ("where is the Valley of the Kings") to more specific topics. Under the heading, "magic bricks" for example, the definition of these bricks is not only provided (they were special bricks placed at the four cardinal points of the compass in New Kingdom tombs), but details of what was in the bricks (amulets to protect the deceased from evil depending on the cardinal direction the brick was placed), and what was inscribed on them.

There are diagrams of tombs and temples, details and myths around the dieties, brief biographies of pharaohs, and all manner of minutae that even seasoned Egyptologists would find interesting. For anyone interested in Ancient Egypt, this is an outstanding resource.

One of the Best Places to Start!

Ten years ago this book was given to me in hardcover. With a life long interest in Egypt and Egyptologists in the family, inevitably I have read a great many books on Ancient Egypt itself. Of all of the books that I own, this is probably one of my most uses because it does truly live up to its name. It is a fabulous overview of the culture, history and life of the Ancient Egptians anywhere. You can look up just about any term, place name, deity, Pharaoh, etc and you are given a great deal of good information that informs but does not overwhelm. Dr. Shaw and Dr. Nicholson have done an outstanding job of making Ancient Egypt very accessible in this little book. I highly recommend it for anyone of any age who might be interested in the subject.

The most comprehensive resource available

I bought this book at the British Museum a few weeks ago and it has not left my side since. It's perhaps the most informative book on Ancient Egypt I've ever come across. Perfect for hobbiests to enthusiasts to anyone who wants a comprehensive resource. The book is amazingly complex in detail and filled with amazing pictures.

Good but a bit outdated now (4th edition)...

With the new 4th edition, Messmer touches on most of the changes ( more details on the pentium III and it's chipset, rambus, DVDs, PCI bus etc.) that have occured in the PC world since the 3rd edition(1997). However, the updated sections are frankly a bit skimpy.
The heart of the book still remains a highly detailed description of the core x86 architecture, which is invaluable.
Mueller has retained all of this material since he probably exerted a great deal of effort in writing them for the 1st edition. However, the newer material, which is equally important, lacks the same kind of depth. So the "Indispensible PC hardware book" is no longer enough on it's own. Something like Scott Mueller's "Upgrading and Repairing PCs" is needed to complement Messmer's otherwise excellent book.

"The One Book", for me at least, on PC Hardware

I have not been using this book so much recently, but in the past it has been absolutely invaluable. Definately the best single reference for technical specifics for the PC.
There seem to be dozens if not hundreds of "upgrade your PC", "Fix your PC" and so on - nearly all light weight and I consider not worthwhile.
It has tables on pretty well everything, and the information is quite dense. I have not found it to be inaccurate. Not merely factual tables (Addresses, IRQs, layouts of structure, PCI) it contains good descriptions of of what is going on.
Now in its fourth edition - and I think I have owned all of them, it has stood the test of time and continues to be updated.

I loved it, too short of course but it is a short story. Very King-like but with typical DiLouie flair. I really am beginning to like this author more and more. I want t read more by this author.

A version of the hills have eyes

This was a truly disturbing tale of lost travelers thinking that they found salvation in a small back woods town. Sure it was short and sounds like little more than a pitch for a B grade slasher movie the likes of The Hills Have Eyes. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion, not all stories can be masterpieces. Masterpiece or not stories like this can reach down in your soul and turn part of it black. A group of friends break down in the middle of a road trip and in the middle of nowhere, only to find a small town. The residents seems a little off their rocker at first, only to discover later that they are much worse that the travelers first thought. This was a pretty straight forward horror story with not twists or turns, yet I found it a very quick escape from reality.

Well worth a read.

A short story in the style of King and Lansdale.

It starts out like a treatment for a B slasher movie - but there is a wonderful sense of underlying menace that elevates this story to an entirely new level. I read it weeks ago, and I'm still thinking about it. That is what makes it a five star tale in my opinion.

I would love to see this developed into a movie.

Evil and funny!

While you read this screenplay, you'll regret laughing at such a sad and tortured little girl. But then you'll say "Oh, what the hell..." and laugh some more. This is a comedy, and it's supposed to make you laugh. For people who like black comedies.
